Having just hopped on to finish season 3 with Q this was a surprise. We thought they’d hold off on this until s4. But it’s here now, and the way bf2042 works I can see this being a terrible update.
The game is made with large, open maps perfect for vehicle raping. There’s not a lot a person can do about this solo, but two people with rpg’s could go tank hunting before and take out the noob tank operators, and the skilled ones would have to put up a good fight if they wanted to survive.
Now? Rockets are restricted to the engineer class. Like the old battlefields. I feel like this wasn’t a big deal with older bf’s because vehicles we’re weaker, slower, fewer weapons. But this battlefield the main battletank has 4 slots that all do something, 3 of them are dps seats. So now we’re just to be punished because the tards at EA can’t consider how they made their game?
This doesn’t matter too much for me and q as we just finished this season, but if we try for s4 is going to depend largely on how they balance this game moving forward. I think at least the base rpg should be a base choice in the gadget slot for all classes, maybe make engineers do more damage with them or something; like how every class has weapon proficiencies now.
The discourse online is largely what you’d expect. Infantry players are pissed that their AT options are gone unless they play the engineer classes and vehicle players are thankful because they can finally survive longer than 3 minutes in a vehicle.
But if you were good in a vehicle 3 minutes was small fries before. Q and I, without having been vehicle mains, could usually survive for 5-8 minutes IN A JEEP. You know, the basic bitch vehicle every faction gets at the start of a game. That’s not holding back either, that’s pushing bases and harassing infantry.
Bit of a rant on this one: there’s a stealth chopper that’s been in since the start of the game. Yeah, you can’t lock on to it. Ever. The only way to take it out is to pray that you have a good AA gunner on your team or a good pilot. Both of which are rare. It’s like if you want a vehicle to be fast fine. To have good counter measures, sure. Powerful weapons? Makes sense. But putting them all on one vehicle and then making it straight up impossible to lock on to is garbage.
And they’ve never nerfed this, the game is playing as intended. Someone has decided that this game is best when vehicles fuck infantry with no counters. Did they bring back the daft cunts from battlefield 1 and battlefield 5? Because it was impossible in those games to go toe to toe with vehicles as infantry in those games unless you got lucky.
Battlefield 5 was a good game except for the tanks. As an infantry player if Q or I saw a tank in an area we just left and went somewhere else. Because in 10 tank encounters where we were EQUIPPED to deal with them we might’ve taken out 1. Those aren’t fun stats. Not nearly enough play AT in battlefield games, and I knew within the first 2 hours of playing 2042 that the rockets being available on all kits was a good thing. And now it’s gone.
And so am I.
