Was a hell of a fight against the aliens. We gave it our best. Suprisingly none of my main squad were eligible as gifted. Probably the hell they've been through. So we got a new guy, doomsday. Some Heavy weapons specialist that supposedely has "the gift." We go into the alien mothership. Easiest op so far, I think to myself. We plow through the first twenty enemies now problem. We lock and load, move up, and run into these two mechs. Long shot. He was the first to go. The mech's only fired on him. Poor bastard was the weakest but the deadliest guy I knew. Always had our backs, you know? He didn't deserve to die. He just moved up so far. Too far. Died as he lived I suppose; one hell of a reach. We keep on plowing and plowing, the enemies finally getting to us a little. We get to their leader. Hammer's got it out for them at this point. He and Long shot knew each other since the beginning. We fire some rockets in, and Pox takes some shots at their leader. Direct hits all around, Hammer tries to shoot but it gets reflected back at him. No worries, Hammer's taken more than that. He keeps on pushing. So we keep laying down the fire, I toss a smoke nade on to cover Hammer as he pushes up. He fires again and again it get's reflected. Same with all of our shots. The leader and his two goons all open up on Hammer. They got him good, but not good enough. You could see it. He was literally on his last leg, but he wasn't done yet. He gets back up, fires another shot at the leader and it misses. I've never seen Hammer like this before. We all try to push up, save the guy you know. No dice. The leader reflects all of our attacks and then the goons open up on Hammer. Guess he couldn't live forever. Pox moves up, tosses a nade and I take the last shot on this guy. His goons disappear without a trace. The ships going down at this point, we're all trying to get the hell out of dodge. Franks waiting with the drop ship out back. Doomsday slows down, looks back. He ain't going no where. We try to get him out of there but he uses that damn gift of us to push us through the door and closes it on himself. We figure he's either got a plan or he's crazy, either way we book it back to Frank. Radio chatter is off the charts, something about the gravity going hawire. Earthquakes everywhere, that kind of thing. We're about 2 clicks from the mothership when it starts flying away. Guess Doomsday didn't live up to his name. First time I was glad our nicknames didn't suit us.
